The Panasonic TCP58VT25 is a technological marvel as far as home entertainment is concerned. This HDTV has earned itself the distinction of the best 3D TV of the year 2010 and not without solid reasons.

The TC-P58VT25 58-inch plasma 3D TV employs quite a few advanced technical features to treat its consumers with a spectacular experience they will not forget in a hurry. The plasma technology, owing to its fast refresh rate, is responsible for providing a full 1080p resolution separately to the left and right eye. In contrast, even the latest LCD TVs are not able to match the ultra-smooth 3D performance of a Plasma TV on this feature. Given that the Panasonic TCP58VT25 is THX certified, you can expect excellent picture quality as that of films shot.

Thanks to Panasonic’s NEO Plasma Display Panel, the smaller power supply has not only brought down the costs of the Panasonic TCP58VT25 Flat Panel HDTV, it also helps in major savings in your power bill. This panel has also resulted in significantly brightening the visuals, though it still is not a match to LCD televisions.

This TV features both Wireless as well as Ethernet connectivity so that you are able to access your favorite web contents like YouTube, Picasa, Netflix, Amazon, Twitter, Skype, Video on Demand, and much more. Attach a keyboard in the USB terminal, and you make a PC irrelevant.

In spite of all the exciting aspects of the TC-P58VT25 58-inch Plasma 3D TV, if you are in the market looking for a super slim TV to enhance the décor of your living room, then we suggest that you look elsewhere.

You may have tried looking, but not found the best options. You need solutions, and in this article, you will find some great options to be able to buy a HDTV projector, that meets your needs.

There are many manufacturers out there who make projectors. There are also a lot of different HDTV projectors out there, however, a visit to a local consumer electronic store, will not give you the full picture.

You very likely could find yourself in a position that is not good. You may go to a local consumer electronic store, and find that they only have a handful of options.

So, where do you gain access to more projectors, so that you can find the best HDTV projector for your needs?

One option is to pick up a magazine that is focused on consumer electronics. This can make all the difference. Another option is a magazine focused on home cinema.

This will result in finding more specialist options. You may find a local store that only sells projectors. And this can be great, however, it won’t save money.

To really save, it is a good idea to go online. There are many places online, and they can make all the difference in selection, and what you need to pay back.

If you really want to have a good selection, and be able to save at the same time, the internet is the best route to make that happen.

Take some time and invest it into research online, and you can find and buy the right HDTV projector for your needs! Would you like to have a home cinema of your own? Put on whatever movies you want, as well as plug up your game console to play on a projector? Find multimedia projectors for sale and buy a HDTV projector. www.projectorsforsale.info.

HD is the new standard in television and there are several reasons why you will want to upgrade. Well, HD is the way all media is going so getting yourself an HDTV is definitely a good choice. You could just buy a new TV that is not in HD, but that stock is dwindling and priced cheap for a reason, not to mention you may find yourself needing a new TV again in a few short years as the technology progresses.

If you can not afford a HDTV right now just hang on to your old television while you save up the money. It will be worth it in the end. You may be thinking that HDTVs are still overpriced luxuries, that they are just indulgent gizmos for technophiles. It is true that there is still a futuristic buzz when it comes to HDTVs, but the truth is that like DVD took over VHS the HDTV is slowly but surely replacing standard definition models. Like VHS and cassette tapes, analog, standard definition TV is becoming a thing of the past. It is inevitable that the entire television and film industries are going to move into all HD. These films and TV shows will not look so great on a standard definition TV, and before long HD is going to be the standard.

After deciding to go for an HDTV you need to look at different models and types. Two popular types of HDTV are LCD and Plasma models. Plasma provides an excellent picture quality with deep, rich colors. However, Plasma TVs are more expensive than LCD TVs. That is not to say an LCD also does not feature incredible picture quality, and it comes with a lower price tag and a wider variety in sizes to boot. Whatever you settle on, it is important to choose a TV that suits your home as well as your budget.

When it comes to socialising with friends, or just relaxing with your partner at the end of a long day or on one of those cold, blustery winter afternoons, there is nothing better than sitting on the sofa and enjoying a good movie.

It doesn’t matter what you watch, whether its an action flick for the boys, or a sappy romantic comedy for a girls night, or just a session of comedy series and dramas to pass the time, watching TV is an experience that has to be enjoyed, and there is no better way to watch than on a Samsung 46 HDTV.

High Definition technology has revolutionised the way that we watch TV, brining us clearer and sharper images, and even better crisper sound quality. A Samsung 46 HDTV does just that and more, bringing superior television viewing from DVD’s down to the regular broadcasting stations.

When you purchase a Samsung 46 HDTV, you do not just purchase a great television set, but also the opportunity to enjoy the next wave of movie technology in the form of Blu-ray discs, movies that have images 20 times sharper than normal DVD’s. The Samsung 46 HDTV has the capacity to insert an HDMI cable and connect to the Blu-ray player and enjoy the discs to the fullest thanks to the High Definition capabilities of the set.

The Samsung 46 HDTV is widely available from almost any good electronics outlet, and not forgetting the wealth of shopping avenues on the virtual high streets created by the Internet. Simply enter your required product and watch as not only are you bombarded with options to buy the set for various prices, but also given sites that compare prices, guarantees and extra’s along with it so that you know when you buy your Samsung 46 HDTV you are getting the best deal out there that suits you.

Buying a television in the modern world is very rarely just a matter of buying a TV. The majority not come with added gifts or extras such as DVD players, or the new Blu-ray players, or surround sound stereo systems. This is also something to watch out for, because many times you can get a complete home entertainment system for a much lower price than if you bought everything individually.

If you enjoy watching movies or television of any kind, then high definition is the way to go, even sports and soap operas are being broadcast in high definition now, meaning that there is something to be gained by everybody in the family and not just yourself.

Simply visit www.kaitak.tv for more detailed information regarding Samsung 46 HDTV.

Armando Iannucci’s hit political comedy returns for a new series next Saturday, 24th October, and this time it’s also available in high definition.

Starting on “Reshuffle Day” at No. 10, Nicola Murray is so far down the list of prospective ministers that Malcolm Tucker doesn’t even have a file on her. But when the job at the Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship is turned down by everybody else, there’s no option but to promote her to the Cabinet.

The downside is that Nicola is very keen. She also has expensive ideas and ideals; a husband who works for a company that has government contracts; an 11-year-old about to go to a private school; and she’s about to face the media at a crucial by-election poster launch. Suddenly, Malcolm’s got a file that’s getting a bit too big for comfort. Something will have to be done.

Malcolm is played by Peter Capaldi, Nicola by Rebecca Front, Ollie by Chris Addison, Terri by Joanna Scanlan and Glenn by James Smith.

The BBC has announced that a new thirteen-part drama series, Defying Gravity will begin airing in high definition next Wednesday, 21st October from 9pm, simulcast on the BBC HD channel.

Defying Gravity follows eight astronauts from five countries as they embark on a mysterious six-year international space mission through the solar system.

They soon discover that the real assignment is not at all what they thought.

Only hours from leaving Earth’s orbit for Venus, aboard the spaceship Antares, two of the eight novice astronauts mysteriously develop heart problems. For ship’s engineer Ajay Sharma and mission commander Rollie Crane, it means a premature return to Earth, and replacement by Maddux Donner, an experienced astronaut who lives under the shadow of a previous mission during which he was forced to abandon two people on Mars, and Ted Shaw, who will have to leave behind his wife, Eve, at Mission Control.

Donner’s arrival, however, disturbs beautiful young astronaut Zoe Barnes, who is linked to him by a strange dream and a romantic encounter from their early training days. The news delights the sensual Nadia Schilling, though.

Although nearly every facet of life on the Antares is broadcast to avid viewers on Earth by documentarian Paula Morales, there is also a hidden force that appears to be controlling events from within the spacecraft.

Ron Livingston is flight engineer Maddux Donner; Laura Harris is ship’s geologist Zoe Barnes; Malik Yoba is flight commander Ted Shaw; Christina Cox is biologist Jen Crane; Florentine Lahme is pilot Nadia Schilling; Paula Garces is pilot, scientist and on-board documentary producer Paula Morales; Eyal Podell is psychiatrist and medical officer Evram Mintz; and Dylan Taylor is theoretical physicist Steve Wassenfelder.

The cast on Earth is led by Andrew Airlie as Mission Control Commander Mike Goss; Karen LeBlanc as scientist Eve Shaw; Zahf Paroo as grounded flight engineer Ajay Sharma; Ty Olsson as Rollie Crane, once Mission Commander onboard Antares and now Cap Comm; and Maxim Roy as flight surgeon Claire Dereux. Peter Howitt plays the role of British journalist Trevor Williams.

Back in February, Sky told us that watching programmes in high definition could make us happier.

Now, new research suggests that watching films in high definition heightens the emotions.

Professor Kim A Bard from the University of Portsmouth has been studying the science behind why movies are tearjerkers, and has announced her top ten.

Of course, there’s a formula for all this:

WEEPINESS = (TC x SI x II) HH

Where TC = tear count, SI = sadness index, II = inspirational index, and HH = happy highs. Read to the end for an explanation of these.

So, to the top ten:

Beaches

The Colour Purple

Schindler’s List

Philadelphia Thing

Nights in Rodanthe

PS I Love You

Meet Joe Black

Terms of Endearment

One True Thing

Love Story

The Scientific Background & Movie Examples

Tear Count (TC)

The first key factor for a movie tearjerker is the amount of tears seen on screen, this is analysed by a Tear Count. To score highly in this area there should be at least 15 instances of people crying throughout the film. This is a key element in movies making the viewer cry due to two mechanisms of emotion transmission – facial mimicry and emotion contagion.

When emotions are expressed in facial movements of someone we see, we tend to mimic those actions on our own face, creating facial mimicry. When an individual watches a character expressing sadness and showing particular movements in the face, a brain system called the mirror neuron system is directly activated so that the observer matches and mimics those actions in the same way. For example in ‘Beaches’ when we see Hilary collapse and eventually pass away at the beach house, with close ups of Bette Midler’s character CC crying, we are likely to mimic this action and cry too. Seeing sadness and teariness in the face of others engenders sadness in us through the additional process of emotion contagion i.e. when a person adopts the actions associated with the emotion (e.g. mimicking a sad face), the person feels that emotion (sadness).

When viewed in high definition, the enhanced clarity of the image highlights even the smallest facial quiver meaning the process of facial mimicry and emotion contagion are even more likely to affect the viewer. Professor Bard explains:

Sadness Index (SI)

The second factor, sadness of the storyline, is analysed with the Sadness Index (SI). This is measured by the intensity and perceived sadness expressed by the characters, taking into consideration the extent to which the theme or topic of the movie is sad, even if the characters weren’t directly expressing it.

Here, for example, ‘Schindler’s List’ scores highly due to the high intensity grief of the Holocaust, with ‘Beaches’ and ‘Philadelphia’ both following closely behind due to the intense sadness surrounding the unfairness of characters dying young. So when looking to create the ultimate movie weepy, the plotline should feature the death of at least one key character to get tears flowing.

Music is also a key element to the Sadness Index by contributing to the overall viewer mood, but often in a way in which we are not consciously aware. This is again intensified further in high definition due to the enhanced sound quality. In ‘Beaches’ for example, the melancholy rendition of ‘Under The Boardwalk’ at the beginning of the film sets the scene from the start and the same is experienced in ‘Love Story’ where the opening notes become an automatic signal of something very sad to come.

Inspirational Index (II)

The third element in identifying what makes us cry at movies is the Inspirational Index (II). This reflects the degree to which there is a positive underlying message, outcome or resolution to the movie. In order achieve a high Inspirational Index rating and to get into the top ten, a movie must have a character-building message for the viewer or a life-affirming message seen on screen. Here again ‘Beaches’ scores highly as the emotional rollercoaster sees CC change her life as she puts aside her own need for attention to devote herself to Hilary during the last months of her life and ultimately taking on the care of Hilary’s daughter. In ‘Night in Rodanthe’, the romance of Paul and Adrienne transforms their lives, re-awakening her artistic expression and his joy of helping others.

Happy Highs (HH)

The balance between happy moments versus sad ones is also key when creating a weepy movie. Professor Bard took this final factor into account by analysing the Happy Highs (HH). This is the degree of happiness seen in the movie and acts as an underlying moderator. If there are many happy highs experienced in the film, it will make us less likely to cry. To be an ultimately sad movie, these ‘happy’ moments should be kept to a minimum.

I’m never a great fan of inbuilt speakers, but for those who don’t have an external home audio system to connect up to, the 10W stereo system with a range of adjustments is a decent enough inclusion.

Four HDMI inputs means you shouldn’t run out of ports to connect up Blu-ray players, HD games consoles and media centre PCs. The usual array of analogue video inputs are also available.

The set also has a Freeview digital tuner built in, presumably future-proofed for the introduction of HD services in the next few years.

Medion AKOYA E3211 ULV notebook PC

With the latest desktops taken care of (AKOYA P4314 D and AKOYA E7330 D), Medion turns its attention to a new notebook PC.

The AKOYA E3211 is the German company’s first notebook to utilise Intel’s ultra low voltage (ULV) Pentium SU2700 processor (running at 1.3GHz), designed to offer greater performance with reduced power requirements, thus extending the battery life between charges — up to four hours in real world testing according to Medion.

Whether the processor is up to the job of rendering high definition video is another matter, but it does come with a 13.3-inch 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen display, with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, so at least 720p HD video will look good.

No Blu-ray here (this is a sub-£500 machine), but a 8x speed multi-format DVD burner is no pushover.

There’s also a 320GB hard drive, 4GB of RAM, wireless, webcam, and various output ports. No HDMI though.

Available now from MedionShop.co.uk
